    Tipsy Tuesday - Beautiful Skin

Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin. Before catching your beauty rest - always make sure you let your skin breathe! Regular cleansing is essential to keeping your skin looking radiant and healthy.

A proper skin care regimen removes dirt, oil, and other nasties from your skin. Throughout the day the skin on your face is covered with bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old (dead) skin cells. Daily facial washing removes these impurities to give the skin a fresh look. Without washing, your skin would be covered with a thick layer of dirt and grime which make it difficult for other products to penetrate the skin properly. Some other benefits include:

    • anti-aging products and treatments work properly.

    • maintain proper pore size.

    • encourages proper skin hydration.

    • prevents the production of excess oils.

I, personally, am a fan of all things Rodan + Fields but any regimen is better than not having one. A basic daily regimen should include a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer {yes, even if you're oily}. There is so much more you can do to help your skin but that's a start! If you're a newby to skincare, let's talk!

Take a few minutes every day to love the skin you're in.

Preparing Your Skin for Your Big Day

So you have a BIG day coming up! Congratulations! We know there is so much that goes into planning a wedding or any grand occasion. While you are searching for the perfect dress, most amazing venue, the best photographer to capture every moment, fabulous eats, and all the other details that go into the perfect celebration, don't forget about taking care of yourself and your skin!

Those photos are going to tell lots of stories and you want to rock your best, glowing skin! Makeup is important and can give you the perfect look but without healthy skin, it just won't work as well as it could. Healthy skin = beautiful makeup.

Here are a couple tips to consider as you prep for the day in the months and days before you walk down the aisle.

    Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin with a good exfoliator is critical to healthy glowing skin. Any product you slather on your face will never do what it's meant to do if it can't penetrate beneath dead skin. Exfoliating can:

    • unclog pores

    • help prevent acne

    • eliminate fine lines

    • help other skincare products penetrate deeper

    • evens skin tone

    • boosts circulation and lymphatic drainage

    • increases cell turnover

    • stimulates collagen

It's important to use an exfoliator without jagged edges that will scratch or aggravate the skin. Opt for one with perfectly round particles - not those with crushed shells for example. It is equally important to use the right amount of pressure. Too much pressure and you can break blood vessels and wreak havoc on your skin.

How often: 2-3 times per week

    Hydrate & Moisturize

Hydrating and moisturizing are not the same thing! So let's define the difference.

Hydration absorbs moisture from the air, infusing your cells with water to improve your skin’s ability to absorb moisture and nutrients.

Moisturizing traps and locks moisture in to build your skin’s natural protective barrier. This prevents water loss and ensures your skin remains soft and smooth.

If your skin is dull and any fine lines and wrinkles you have are becoming more noticeable, your skin is dehydrated. Apply a hydrator to combat this issue and give your skin the much

    -needed nourishment.

If your skin is prone to being dry or you have flaky skin, the skin barrier may not be locking in moisture. Apply moisturizer to restore your skin’s plump and bouncy appearance.

    How often: daily

Fresh New Start for Your Skin

    Updated: Aug 7, 2019

Whether it's the start of a new year or just a new and improved you, committing to a better skincare routine is often a choice made when we are not happy with what we see in the mirror, when we've reached milestone birthdays or (gasp!) compare ourselves to someone who seems to beam and glow no matter what they are doing.

Good skincare is ALWAYS something I strongly recommend. We get one shot at the skin we've been given and taking care of it is something you will never regret.

Starting or switching up your skincare routine can - and usually will - lead to some not so pleasant changes in your skin. You can expect changes like dry skin/patches, flaking, redness and of course, acne while your skin adjusts to the new products. These are annoying but expected side affects and may even test our patience a bit while our skin adjusts but it's worth the wait when you know beautiful glowing skin will be ours!

    What to watch for

There is a difference between a normal reaction and an allergic reaction.

A normal reaction should not be painful or long lived. Applying a new toner or retinol serum or cream can cause some tingling, mild stinging and redness. These can be expected changes as your skin becomes accustomed to new products. Don't panic!

    What to do

Ease into the new product. Reduce the frequency of use. Try using the product once a week, three times a week, every other day - whatever your skin will tolerate - to introduce the products and allow your skin time to acclimate.

    When will I see results

Products with active ingredients like retinol and pigment fading creams take some time before you see results. Be patient. Like most things - they take time to produce the results we want.

    What I recommend

Anyone who knows me, knows I love Rodan + Fields products - all of them! I believe in the products, I believe in the company and I believe in the doctors that created them. And, I recommend them without hesitation, if you're looking for products that are proven to work, have countless before and after success stories, have products for most skin care concerns and offer a 60 day, empty bottle, hassle free, money back guarantee - this is your answer!

The core regimens are designed with the Multi-Med philosophy of combining the right ingredients in the right formulations and using them in the right order to give you a complexion that is younger looking, brighter, clearer and more even-toned.

Formerly sold exclusively at Nordstroms, they are now available through direct sales and I can help you find the what works best for you. To learn more, reach out and contact me directly at cre8iveatheart@gmail.com or visit www.debra315.myrandf.com.

It's never to early - or too late to start taking care of your skin! Whatever you do, be consistent, be faithful and watch the youthful glowing skin we all want emerge!

Cheers to a new year and a new you!
